College can get overwhelming, and balancing multiple time commitments on top of classes, schoolwork and studying only adds to the stress. The Dennis Learning Center coaches recommend creating a fixed commitment calendar (link here) to keep track of time commitments and schedule in time for other tasks. If you’re not a fan of paper planners, try planning out your week on Google Calendar!
Tips & Tricks to navigate GCal:
- Watch a quick tutorial to start out! Here’s a great 6 minute guide to using the website: https://youtu.be/5GdxyXoD1xk?si=-kqChuQNYCBBijWI
- Put in your classes and recurring events and set them to repeat however often you would like. By having recurring events already entered, you save time for future weeks!
- Color code your activities to have an overview of how much time is spent towards each goal/interest. For example, make classes and academic tasks green and entertainment yellow to see how well you are balancing these priorities on a week-by-week basis.
- Download the app on your phone and add the widget to your lockscreen. The website will sync with the app automatically, giving you an overview of your tasks for the day on your lockscreen!
DLC coaches use Google Calendar too! Mariam says that keeping track of her activities on Google Calendar is the only way she has been able to juggle her extracurricular commitments, 18-credit semesters, multiple jobs, and social life.
