Jacqueline von Spiegel and Carolyn Johns have been named Interim Director of the Dennis Learning Center and Interim Director of the Mathematics and Statistics Learning Center, respectively. Prior to their interim positions, von Spiegel served as Program Manager of the Dennis Learning Center for 4 years and Johns served as Assistant Director of the Mathematics and Statistics Learning Center for 10 years.

Von Spiegel’s research and teaching focuses on topics in educational psychology, specifically self-regulated learning and academic help-seeking in college students. With a career centering on supporting college student success, she contributes to the broader field of collegiate learning assistance as a leader in the national organizations for academic coaching and learning center administration.
Von Spiegel earned a BA in Psychology from the University of Akron, before earning her MA in Developmental Psychology from The Ohio State University. She is currently a doctoral candidate at The Ohio State University in Educational Studies, specializing in Educational Psychology.
Mathematics and Statistics Learning Center Interim Director Carolyn Johns
Johns has published a variety of articles focused on the teaching and learning of undergraduate mathematics education as well as undergraduate mathematics peer tutoring. She is both a leader in the Ohio State tutoring community, organizing the Tutoring Services Resource Group, and the national undergraduate mathematics tutoring community, co-organizing the Math Learning Center Leaders group.
Johns earned a BA in Mathematics and Theatre at Earlham College, before earning her MS in Mathematics and Mathematics Education from the University of Akron, and her PhD in STEM Education from The Ohio State University.
