- Why did you choose to become a coach? I became an academic coach because I wanted the opportunity to connect with students in a counseling environment. I am very passionate and empathetic, so I wanted to help students overcome some of the same struggles I faced when coming to college while also being a support system to encourage personal and academic growth and success.
