The Dennis Learning Center (DLC) supports students’ academic success at The Ohio State University. If you would like to refer an Ohio State student to the DLC, please complete the following form. An academic coach from the Dennis Learning Center will reach out to the student to offer support.
The student you are referring will be emailed with your name and contact information as the source of the referral to the DLC. We encourage you to be transparent with students you are referring to us and discuss the referral with them prior to completing this form.
Who can I refer to the DLC?
Any Ohio State student! We works with incoming students, undergraduates of all majors and years, returning students, master’s students, doctoral students, and professional students.
For OSUWMC residents or fellows, please use this Student Referral Form to refer learners to academic coaching.
Common reasons for referral?
We help students with a wide range of academic and life skills, including:
- Study skills/making a study plan
- Test-taking skills/test anxiety
- Time management
- Increasing or maintaining motivation
- Reducing procrastination
- Note-taking skills
- Focus/concentration
- Keeping up with coursework
- Stress management
- Executive function/self-regulation strategies
We do NOT offer…
- tutoring in specific content
- mental health counseling
- testing for learning disorders
- academic advising
- career counseling
What is the referral process? Who will be reaching out to my student?
After completing our short Student Referral Form, one of the DLC Academic Coaches will send a semi-personalized email to your student. This email will be a non-judgmental offer for support, including tips, resources, and a 1:1 academic coaching appointment.
