Outreach and Individualized Services

Individualized services offers free one-on-one appointments with a Learning Specialist trained in learning and motivation strategies. As an Ohio State student, you can meet with a Learning Specialist to discuss your academic strengths and weaknesses. During an appointment, you will be introduced to learning and motivation strategies to help you succeed in college as well as discuss common concerns for college students. Learning Specialists work with students to develop a personalized plan of action for academic success!

In addition to individualized appointments, Learning Specialists facilitate free workshops for the OSU community that focus on student academic concerns such as procrastination, test anxiety, note taking, and much more! What we do for Ohio State University students:

Enhance success in college by providing free additional assistance and instruction outside the classroom in a computer-based facility
Help you improve your study skills, time and life management, motivation, and test-taking strategies
Teach active listening and reading skills, how to write papers and prepare for exams, and how to overcome procrastination and deal with other school-related concerns
Provide computerized “tools” to help you study for courses

What we do NOT do:

Provide tutoring for specific courses
- For tutoring services check out The Mathematics and Statistics Learning Center and The Writing Center. These organizations offer evening tutoring for students in the Younkin Success Center building.
- Or you can receive tutoring assistance through Residence Halls.
Provide Counseling services
- The Counseling and Consultation Service (CCS) provides counseling services to Ohio State students
