Hello eveyone,
Welcome to EPL 259D. I'm your instructor, Rick
Mosholder. I have taught the course for several years and look forward to
working with you this quarter. I have a background in corporate management and
also owned my own company before returning to school at OSU to get a PhD in
Educational Psychology.
My responsibility in this course is to help you
learn strategies to succeed in school. Your responsibility is to do all the
assignments, on time, according to the instructions. If you do, you will succeed
in this course. In the process, you will become a better student. It's as easy
as that.
The course officially starts with this message. My plan is to
send you e-mails with instructions for the course on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Here are some important things you should do immediately:
1) Familiarize
yourself right away with the structure and deadlines for the course. Begin by
going to the course home page at http://dennislearningcenter.osu.edu/epl259d-au05/index.htm
(bookmark this page) and read "Opening Remarks from a 259d Instructor". This
will give you an overview of how the course works. There are many assignments
and many due dates. Even though all the due dates are on the course calendar and
in the syllabus, I've also attached to this e-mail message a WORD document that
includes all the due dates. I suggest you print it out and keep it handy. The
course can seem a little complex at first because there are a number of
different kinds of assignments, but it will become clear over the first week or
so.
2) Send me an e-mail. Please e-mail me at mosholder.6@osu.edu by Friday, September 23rd,
confirming that you have received this message, have found the course website at
the address given below, and have read "Opening Remarks from a 259d
Instructor". Please send e-mails to my osu e-mail address only
even though some e-mails may come to you from my home
address.
3) Buy your textbooks. Learning and Motivation
Strategies and A Hope in the Unseen are at student bookstores. You'll need them
immediately.
E-mail will be our main form of communication throughout the
quarter, and you should feel free to e-mail me whenever you have questions. The
address shown for this message is a listserve that will e-mail everyone in the
class. If you just want to communicate with me, use mosholder.6@osu.edu. I'm looking forward to having you
in the class this quarter.
Sincerely,
Rick
